TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS FEATURING: AAU, HOLY TRINITY THE FEATURE

Until recent changes brought about a new cropping of private colleges almost all higher education centers in Ethiopia were public owned. They are charged to "cultivate, expand and transmit knowledge, provide professional services at regional and national levels with a view to accelerating social and economic development and to conduct research and studies in different fields that will help in solving societies' problems and disseminate fruitful results."

A number of private colleges have come to existence in the last three years, and some like a vocational college in Woldya town in Wollo being built by the Ethiopian business tycoon Shiek Mohamed Al- Amoudi are still in the making.
